Project Life® and Winter Memories

Just popping in to share a quick digi project life page that I created over the weekend using the new Winter theme pack. It’s seriously darling – I love the colours and vintage inspired designs! Reminiscing about our first winter back from the island was fun – the kids reactions to the first snowfall were precious and I had to create this quick page to document the memories that accompany these special photos. It’s another warm weather Christmas amongst the palm trees for us and while I’m not missing the frigid temperatures up north, the kids sure are missing the snow this year.

The new Project Life® Winter theme pack is available in digital format here and I believe its available in stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels – correct me on that if I’m wrong, but I haven’t seen the actual cards available anywhere online.

It’s nearing the end of the year and that means my time on the Project Life® 2013 creative team is drawing to a close. It’s been great fun, many thanks Becky and her team for the fabulous opportunity! Visit Becky’s blog for the last dose of PL inspiration from the 2013 team here. Keep checking back as I continue to document our adventures in 2014!

You can see all of my Project Life creative team submissions from 2013 here. I’m so thankful to have documented some really important memories using this simple + inspiring memory keeping system!

New Project Life® Just Add Color Kit on HSN

There’s something exciting coming soon to HSN + I’m thrilled to share a little sneak peek at what you can expect!  Think Project Life®! Think gorgeous designs! Think square photos + think customizable! This is a brand new twist on Project Life® + it is SO fun!!

HSN is releasing this exclusive, instagram friendly Project Life® kit called Just Add Color on September 17th and it’s absolutely the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen! The designer Kerri Bradford has really outdone herself. I had such a fun time designing with these beautiful products and can’t wait to use them again and again in my albums!

The bundle that you can purchase on HSN includes the Just Add Color Core Kit, never before seen photo pocket pages and stickers all for one low price! It will only be available in limited quantities and is expected to sell out quickly so keep an eye out for it!

This kit features a square format that’s Instagram friendly. This brand new Core Kit, that’s not available anywhere else, features new 2×2 and 4×4 sized cards and photo pocket pages. The Core Kit and photo pocket pages also feature the regular 4×6 style inserts and pockets so that you can easily integrate this into any existing albums you’re working on. This is the first Core Kit to come with 12 sheets of stickers.

The just Add Color Edition includes: 60 4×6 title cards, 20 4×6 journaling cards, 80 4×4 journaling cards, 400 2×2 filler cards, 80 basic cards and 20 sticker sheets. Becky Higgins shared some more sneak peeks at the product here on her blog if you want to take a look.

After drooling over all the beautiful cards included in this kit I got to work creating a couple of quick pages. I used some of the stickers + the fun date stamp pictured above, that will also be available on HSN on the 17th. It was really fun to be able to customize + create some of my own Project Life® cards using the stickers.

I love that you can add a unique twist to your pages so easily with the stickers and with so many spaces available in these new photo pocket page designs the possibilities were endless! Oh my goodness…my mind was reeling with ideas of page I could create with these new square format designs!

There’s a number of other bloggers who will be sharing more sneak peeks over the coming weeks + I’ll be sure to stop in and add their links right here so that you can have a look at all the things you can do with this amazing kit!

Fifth + Frolic and Vintage Travel Project Life Kits Available Exclusively at Michael’s

I recently had the opportunity to work with some darling new Project Life kits that will be available exclusively at Michaels Stores. The Fifth & Frolic and Vintage Travel kits are currently in stock at some Michaels stores already, but will be available at all locations in the US and Canada by August 2nd!
I created the page above documenting my youngest daughters birth using the Fifth & Frolic Edition by Dear Lizzy. Isn’t it so soft and pretty? I really enjoyed using this kit – it was perfect for a baby page but could easily fit with a variety of themes.

Here’s a sampling of some of the cards that are included the kit. I just love the color combos!

I created the next page about our caving trip last Summer using the Vintage Travel edition
from Crate Paper.

This kit is gorgeous! I love how the color combos are a bit more masculine – but its still got some polkadots – you can never go wrong with polka dots! :)

I love travel themed anything and this kit is no exception. It would work great for a quick road trip or any travel inspired project you have in the works.

Here’s just a small sampling of some of the cards in the Vintage Travel edition.
There’s so many exciting things happening with Project Life, if you missed it, be sure to stop by Becky Higgin’s blog for all the announcements on the latest products that are coming soon!
Visit Becky’s Facebook page and instagram feed to see even more sneak peeks at what’s inside these exclusive Project Life kits for Michaels!

Project Life 2013 on the Move

After hoping for this day to come for a long time now, its hard to believe that moving day is nearly here! We leave this Friday for Arizona and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re packing up the last few boxes and have some cleaning to do but other than that….we’re SO ready for this!
We’ve got a long road trip ahead of us and I’ll be keeping in touch via instagram and facebook as we travel. I’m excited about the places we’ll see along the way and I’m sure I’ll have lots of photos to document by the time we get to Arizona!

I thought I’d put some of the long hours spent in the car to good use and bring along a few Project Life journaling cards to record details about the trip as they happen. I’m using a mixture of cards from the following Project Life kits:

Kraft Edition
Midnight Edition

Baby Edition

I love how easy it is to take these little journaling cards with you anywhere you go! I have them tucked in my Project Life notebook in my purse along with a pencil + my favorite journaling pen. When I’m using my own handwriting I like to record with pencil first – read more here.
I printed out some of the journaling cards using the PL Digi editions available at AC Digitals. I really like working with the digital versions, especially since you can personalize some of the elements like I did with the card below using this fun State Face font

I look forward to recording the details of our trip with Project Life! Once we get settled in our new home all I need to do is print out the photos and add them, along with the already journaled cards, to our 2013 album!
** IMPORTANT NOTE **
The Simple as That Digital Shop will be closed from May 30th – June 10th. You can still place orders during this time but products won’t be emailed out until after the 10th. Thank you for your understanding.

We’ll see you again in a few weeks! :)

Project Life 2013 + Using your own Handwriting

Just popping in to share another quick page from my 2013 Project Life album along with a simple tip for including more of your own handwriting in your scrapbooks.

I knew I wanted lots of photos on this page about Alivia’s 3rd birthday which didn’t leave me a lot of room for journaling. I was able to add some extra text on my photos along with a quick typed journaling block. Using the computer to journal is great, you can fit in so much more text than with hand journaling, but using your own handwriting is nice too!

I’ve always found it a little intimidating to use my own handwriting on my scrapbook pages, but I’m determined to get over this fear since jumping on the Project Life band wagon this year.
Quick Hand Journaling Tip:

One thing I do that makes it much less scary to commit that ink to paper, is write my journaling with pencil first. I can get things centred and correct any mistakes I need to and then go over the pencil afterwards with my favorite pen. All I have to do is erase the pencil marks after the ink is dry.

Supplies used for this page: Photo Pocket Pages Design A | Yellow polkadot card from the Neutral Baby Edition Core Kit. I simply created the little title block in PS, cut it out + placed over the baby themed title that was on the preprinted card.

July, August + September Monthly Photo Collages

I got a little behind on my monthly photo collages and have been playing catchup over the last week. I finally have July, August + September complete and just have to print my September collage, then they’ll all be in my 2013 Project Life Album! Woohoo! I’m so happy to have them all done!

You can read more about these monthly photo collages that I’ve been putting together since 2010 and download the free 12×12 templates here.

The template I use for my instagram photos is designed to fit Becky Higgin’s 6 x 12 Page Protectors and its such a great way to summarize all my instagram pics at the end of each month. I love using these collage templates each month to create a summary of the special memories we made as a family. It’s such a quick + easy way to get a lot of photos documented at once!

You can find my free monthly collage templates here.
More about my instagram collage templates here.
I’ve shared some detailed instructions on how to use my templates in this post if you need a few tips. When you’re downloading or purchasing the templates please remember, they are layered PSD files suitable for use in Photoshop or Photoshop elements.
If you’ve been creating your own monthly photo collages for 2013 I’d love to take a peek at what you’re up to! Leave me a link in the comments or shoot me an email at cooper{dot}rr{at}gmail.com!
For my own records, here’s just a brief rundown of what we’ve been up to over the past three months.
July 2013
July was all about swimming + keeping cool! We spent countless afternoons at the pool, we celebrated the 4th, my 35th birthday and started to get ready for school that started unseasonably early for us this year. We got out hiking and had fun exploring the desert!
August 2013
August was another full month with school starting for the oldest three. It was an exciting time for Addie as she started kindergarten! There was lots of school work, school photos, homework and time spent settling back into a regular routine. We made one last trip to the mountains with friends and got a taste of the cooler temperatures we could look forward to come October.
September 2013
I feel like we’re really starting to settle into life here in Arizona + the kids are all adjusting well to their school schedules. We were able to take some time in September to visit the Phoenix Zoo, did a little bit more baking now that the temps are starting to drop a little bit. Carson’s been working so hard on his cub scout requirements and we had so much fun camping with the ward the last weekend of the month!

Recording Memories one Photo Collage at a Time

I’ve reached the six month mark in recording our family memories using my monthly photo collage templates and it feels SO GREAT to have all these memories documented and in my 2013 Project Life albumI’ve been doing this since 2010 and you can read more + download my free photo collage templates here

Recording our life in this way isn’t comprehensive – it’s meant to be a very simple way to compile a months worth of memories. It not only provides a way for me to get the essential memories compiled quickly and simply, but it’s also really helped me keep on top of my photo organization.

At the end of each month I make sure all photos are uploaded from my SLR camera and my phone, then take the time to erase all images off my memory cards  and empty the camera roll on my phone so I’m ready to start fresh in the new month.

While gathering photos for my monthly collage I delete duplicate/unwanted images and then backup photos to my external hard drive. I don’t know about you but I’ve experienced a few scary moments where I thought I’d lost photos that hadn’t been backed up off of my computer and it was the worst feeling! I can’t tell you how important it is to establish a regular back up schedule so you don’t lose your images!

The instagram photo template that I’m using was created to use in my Project Life  album with Becky’s 6 x 12 Page Protectors and its such a great way to summarize all my instagram pics at the end of each month. I’ve mentioned that I’m a huge fan of using templates before, right!?  They are such a time saver and I just love using them!

All you have to do is drop in your photos, add some text + print! I probably spend anywhere from about a 1/2 hour to an hour creating these collages each month and it’s definitely time well spent!

Even if I don’t have time to sit down and do a lot of scrapbooking in any given month, I always know I’ll have these collages completed and that’s all I need most months to feel like I’m doing a little something to record our precious family memories. Time is a scarce commodity sometimes and I say that whatever you CAN do preserve your family’s memories is enough!

You can find my free monthly collage templates here.
More about my instagram collage templates here.
For more detailed instructions on using my templates there is lots of info available in this post. If you’re downloading or purchasing the templates please remember, they are layered PSD files suitable for use in Photoshop or Photoshop elements.

If you’d like to use the same diagonal striped background that I used in my collages the Simply Stripes patter paper pack is available in the digital shop. The package includes 6 JPG files in the colors used in my my instagram collages plus a PSD layered file that you can customize in whatever colors you’d like to create your own custom backgrounds! For step by step instructions on how to customize the colors visit this post.

Regularly $5.00 the pack is available at an introductory price of $3.50 for a limited time!

Please note that these files are for personal use only!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! If you’ve been creating your own monthly photo collages for 2013 I’d love to take a peek at what you’re up to! Leave me a link in the comments or shoot me an email at cooper{dot}rr{at}gmail.com!

Frameables | Photo Collage Templates for Framing

I’m excited to share my latest product with you, designed to help you get your images off your phone or camera + onto your walls!

It’s no secret I love to take photos, but getting them printed, in frames and on display is something I’ve always struggled with. In 2013 I’m determined to DO more with my photos! Whether its scrapbooking them with Project Life or  printing them and displaying them in some form or another around our home – my photos will not just sit around on my phone/camera or computer any longer!
That’s why I created this set of 5 photo collage templates perfect for framing! I thought they’d be a fun way to display a whole lot of photos all at once! What started out as an idea for getting my instagram photos on display turned into much more and I’m so excited for the possibilties with these frameables!
 You could use them for:
Instagram photos
Baby Photos
Wedding Photos
Kids artwork

All elements of the five collages are fully customizable. You can change the colors, text, fonts however you’d like! I’ve shared just a few examples of what can be done with these templates. The templates were created for framing but would be great for use with project life as well! It’s important to note that you will need Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to use these templates.
You can purchase all the templates as a set or purchase them individually in my shop
More details on that below.
I currently have the above collage printed as an 8×10 and displayed in my office. I plan to change the photos out periodically and reprint. It’s such a fun thing to see these little snippets of our life displayed like this + really inexpensive as well!
Here’s a closer look at the frame that I picked up at Walmart:
I have yet to find the perfect spot for it, so for now its hanging out on the top of my craft shelf.
Templates can be purchased as a set or individually sized 8×10 or 11×14 along with one 12×12 template. Please note, these are layered Adobe PSD files so they’re for use with PS/PSE only. You will be emailed your digital file within 48 hours upon purchase.
